Porsche recalls more than 170k vehicles due to rearview camera issue

According to the recall notice, the rearview image may fail to appear when the vehicle is in reverse, diminishing the driver’s visibility and heightening the chances of an accident.

WASHINGTON — Porsche, the prestigious German carmaker, has announced a recall affecting approximately 173,538 vehicles due to malfunctioning rearview cameras.

The recall was formally issued on December 19, 2025, with the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stating that notification letters will be dispatched to affected vehicle owners by February 16.

The absence of the rearview display while reversing compromises the driver’s rearward visibility, thus raising the potential risk of collisions, as outlined in the recall documentation.

Authorized dealers will provide a complimentary software update to resolve this issue once it becomes available. Impacted owners will receive a notification on February 16, with a subsequent letter following when the remedy is ready for their vehicles.

Recalled Porsche models:

  • 911, 2020-2025
  • Cayenne, 2019-2025
  • Cayenne E-Hybrid, 2019-2025
  • Panamera, 2024-2025
  • Panamera E-Hybrid, 2025
