Saturday’s Powerball jackpot totaled $565 million. Did you win?

WASHINGTON — No one won the Powerball jackpot Wednesday, pushing the total to $565 million for Saturday’s drawing.

While nobody hit the jackpot, three lucky tickets — one each from New Hampshire, Oregon, and Texas — snagged the $1 million prize by matching all five regular numbers. Players have the chance to win up to $2 million if they match all five numbers and choose a Powerball number of at least two.

The Powerball jackpot for Saturday offered a cash lump sum of $255.3 million, a popular choice for winners instead of receiving the full amount as an annuity.

Winning Powerball Numbers for Wednesday, Aug. 16

Saturday’s winning numbers were 23-40-49-65-69 with a red Powerball number 23. The Power Play multiplier was 3x.

Those who match all five numbers plus the Powerball can choose between receiving the entire jackpot over 30 years or opting for a lesser amount in a single cash payment. Most winners prefer the cash payout.

Even with the smaller lump sum payout, federal taxes will eat into those winnings, and some states also tax big lottery prizes.

What are the odds of winning the Powerball?

The likelihood of winning the Powerball jackpot is one in 292.2 million. The chances of matching all five white balls to win $1 million are 1 in 11,688,053. The odds of winning any prize at all stand at 1 in 24.87.

When is the Powerball drawing?

The Powerball drawing is held live at 10:59 p.m. ET every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Tickets cost $2 each and are available in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
