The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are one in 292.2 million.

WASHINGTON — It’s once again time to check your Powerball tickets to see if you won the jackpot now $700 million jackpot.

The lump sum cash value for Saturday’s Powerball jackpot was $316 million. This is the option chosen by most winners instead of the total amount paid out as an annuity.

Players can also win $1 million, or $2 million if they select the Power Play option, by matching all five main numbers without the Powerball.

Winning Powerball Numbers for Wednesday, Aug. 23

Saturday’s winning numbers were 11-14-34-47-51 with a red Powerball number 18. The Power Play multiplier was 2x.

If a participant matches all five numbers plus the Powerball, they can opt for the entire jackpot disbursed over 30 years or choose a reduced cash sum. Nearly all winners prefer the cash option.

Even with the smaller lump sum payout, federal taxes will eat into those winnings, and some states also tax big lottery prizes.

The odds of hitting the Powerball jackpot stand at one in 292.2 million. The chances of matching all five white balls for the $1 million prize are 1 in 11,688,053. Overall, the chances of winning any prize are 1 in 24.87.
