Scott Hazlett, 40, who serves as the principal of Leto High School, has been placed on administrative leave following his arrest.
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — The principal of a Tampa high school has been placed on administrative leave following his arrest by the Temple Terrace Police Department early Saturday morning.
Scott Hazlett, aged 40, was arrested at 1:40 a.m. on Saturday. He faces charges of driving under the influence, possession of cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia, as noted in Hillsborough County Jail’s online records.
Hazlett serves as the principal of Leto High School and has worked for Hillsborough County Public Schools since 2007.
The school district shared the following statement regarding Hazlett’s arrest:
“He has worked with the district since 2007 and is now on administrative leave due to the recent charges. These accusations are very troubling, and we are aware of the potential effect on our students and staff. We continue to prioritize offering the necessary support to our students and staff during this period.”
Hazlett has been released on bond.
