Student twerking in front of a Moscow cathedral.

THREE students have been kicked out of university and ordered to do 11 months of “corrective labour” for twerking in front of a Moscow cathedral.

The three young women posted a video of the moment on TikTok, but the authorities have responded with an iron fist.

It comes as part of a traditional values crackdown sweeping Russia under Vladimir Putin.

The trio, who are believed to be 18, were convicted of “petty hooliganism” for the act.

They were expelled from their Russian university for “violating public order and insulting the religious feelings of citizens”.

For punishment, they’ve been sentenced to 11 months of “corrective labour”, according to reports.

The Stroganov Russian State University of Art and Industry acted following an outcry from Orthodox campaigners.

Traditionalist pressure group Sorok Sorokov blasted the “brainless girls who decided to gain popularity”.

The video was criticized for depicting individuals “dancing provocatively in front of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow”.

This cathedral is often attended by Russia‘s warmongering despot Vladimir Putin.

“The infection, if left unchecked, will multiply,” the group claimed.

The three women were only identified as A Dmitrieva from Moscow, A Kalinkina from Astrakhan, and I Pchelintseva from Elektrostal.

They were found guilty of an administrative offence for their “vulgar dance”.

“We thank law enforcement agencies for protecting the rights of believers, protecting public morality,” the group added.

The conviction prompted punitive action from their university.

The institution pointed to their “video of a dance in provocative clothing against the backdrop of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour”.

All three students were expelled and warned to “watch your behaviour and do not allow your life to be ruined by stupidity”.

It comes as Putin has green lit a wider prudish crackdown on Russians’ behaviour.

He has overseen a hunt for numerous youngsters who have posting themselves committing what is deemed debauchery.

In one incident, Alena Agafonova landed herself in trouble after posting a video beneath The Motherland Calls monument in Volgograd.

The video, which is now officially banned in Russia, appears to show Alena “tickling” the famous war statue’s right breast.

She went into hiding in Sri Lanka soon after the film was made and was put on a wanted list.

Putin’s morality crackdown

Vladimir Putin has sought to promote “traditional values

Despite his own love of going topless and “showing off” his physique, Putin has also been dubbed “prudish” for his morality drive.

One case saw a bizarre manhunt after an OnlyFans model went topless in Moscow’s Red Square.

Others have ended up in hot water for breaching laws that ban any move to “promote homosexuality” in Russia.

Vlada Alchaeva and her friend Vika posted a clip of them sharing a kiss in a pizzeria in Krasnodar.

But they were hunted down by cops and forced to make a chilling apology.

And streamer Polina Murugina posed naked next to a church in Russia – landing her in similar trouble.

She was threatened with jail for “insulting the religious feelings of believers”.

Many have been forced into hiding under the draconian crackdown.
