According to investigators, at least $20,000 worth of the reportedly stolen items had been returned where they had been bought.

WASHINGTON — Dr. Wendy Osefo, a prominent figure from “Real Housewives of Potomac,” faces fraud charges alongside her husband, Eddie Osefo.

According to press release by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office in Maryland, the pair fraudulently reported a burglary and theft.

The sheriff’s office said deputies responded April 7, 2024 to a home in Finksburg after reports of a break-in.

Authorities revealed, “Upon responding to the scene, they spoke to the homeowners, who had just come back from a trip and found their residence broken into, missing numerous valuables. They’ve reported the theft of around 80 items, including jewelry, luxury goods, clothing, and footwear, collectively valued at over $200,000.”

According to investigators, at least $20,000 worth of the reportedly stolen items had been returned where they were bought by the Osefos.

The sheriff’s department noted that investigators found photographs of the couple donning some of the reportedly stolen jewelry. It’s suspected that these images were captured subsequent to the alleged break-in.

The pair were arrested Thursday, but were released on bail Friday.

“Real Housewives of Potomac,” featuring Wendy Osefo as a star, is the eighth series in the reality TV lineup. Debuting in 2016, it delves into the personal and professional dynamics of several women residing near Potomac, Maryland.

Osefo’s arrest comes just days after the premiere of the show’s 10th season, which she stars in.

She’s not the first member from the show to face legal issues. Karen Huger, part of the initial cast, was expelled following a DUI conviction. Huger’s sentence comprised two years in jail, with one year suspended for her DUI offense. She was released six months later, in September.

In the show’s fifth season, cast members Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard Bassett were caught in a physical conflict. Both were charged with second-degree assault, though the charges were eventually dismissed.

Samuels didn’t return to the show’s sixth season, despite being invited back by the network.

It’s unclear if the currently-airing 10th season will address Osefo’s arrest.
