(NEXSTAR) — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is recalling several thousands of pounds of ground coffee that were distributed across the U.S. — after it was discovered the caffeinated grounds were mislabeled as decaffeinated.

The recall, issued by Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA, affects 12-ounce bags of Our Family Traverse City Cherry Decaf Light Roast Ground Coffee, which were distributed in Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
The FDA lists this as a class II recall, in which use or exposure to a product “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”
The recalled coffee bags can be identified by:
- Best Before date: 08/03/25
- Product Code: 0 70253 11080 1
So far, the company has not issued a remedy or instructions for customers who have purchased the affected items, however, for further information, contact the FDA.
