Rosie O’Donnell shared her private pain at the personal cost of fleeing the United States under the rule of her longtime nemesis, President Donald Trump, for the emerald isle of Ireland.
On Sunday, the 63-year-old comedian shared a snap of her 25-year-old son Blake O’Donnell sitting in a car with his ‘beautiful’ wife of seven months, Teresa, in Boston as she lamented: ‘I miss [you] so much!’
Rosie (born Roseann) only has one family member by her side – her non-binary 12-year-old child Dakota ‘Clay’ O’Donnell, whom she adopted during her two-year marriage to late ex-wife #2 Michelle Rounds, which ended in 2015.
O’Donnell — whose grandparents hailed from the country — hinted at her move to Ireland as far back as March 7 and she’s now ‘in the process’ of getting Irish citizenship.
‘It’s been pretty wonderful, I have to say. The people [in Ireland] are so loving and so kind, so welcoming. And I’m very grateful,’ the 12-time Emmy winner – who boasts 3.1M followers – said on TikTok March 11.
‘I was never someone who thought I would move to another country. That’s what I decided would be the best for myself and my 12-year-old child. And here we are. I’m so, so proud and so impressed with their resilience. It’s not easy to move to another country and we really felt as a family this was the safest and best thing for us to do.’

Rosie continued: ‘You know, I’m happy. Clay is happy. I miss my other kids. I miss my friends. I miss many things about life there at home and I’m trying to find a home here in this beautiful country. When it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America, that’s when we will consider coming back.’
O’Donnell might be 3K miles from her native New York but the 78-year-old POTUS still very much lives rent free in her head as she obsessively posts about him and his unelected Senior Advisor Elon Musk.
The Menendez Brothers: Victims or Villains star – whose ongoing feud with Donald dates back to 2006 – posted a video on her Substack channel last Thursday forgiving MAGA supporters.
‘I forgive them, and I know they didn’t ask for my forgiveness,’ Rosie said.
‘And I hope that doesn’t sound condescending, but I forgive them for making the mistake of believing the Americanized propaganda where we sold a conman as a businessman.’
Last Friday, O’Donnell sold her $8.3M Midtown Manhattan penthouse apartment at a loss for $6.9M two years after listing the 3,400-square-foot property, which is now under ‘contract’ per the listing held by Caroline Bass of Corcoran.
The Outstanding: A Comedy Revolution funnywoman welcomed her son Blake and her 29-year-old son Parker O’Donnell during her three-year relationship with ex-wife #1 Kelli Carpenter, which ended in 2007.
Rosie’s 22-year-old daughter Vivienne O’Donnell is a senior enrolled at the University of Delaware.
Her estranged 27-year-old daughter Chelsea O’Donnell – who just filed to legally change her surname to ‘Nevens’ – pleaded no contest to methamphetamine possession, bail jumping, and obstruction and she’ll be sentenced this Monday at Oconto County Circuit Court in Wisconsin.
