A seasoned skydiver from Britain tragically ended her own life during a dive, just a day after her relationship with her partner ended.

Jade Damarell, a 32-year-old from Wales, fell into a field in County Durham, in northern England on April 27, succumbing to blunt trauma injuries, as reported by officials and noted by The Guardian. Coroner Leslie Hamilton determined the incident to be a suicide at an inquest conducted on Thursday, according to the outlet.

Throughout her career, Damarell completed over 500 successful jumps. She intentionally chose not to open her main parachute and deactivated her automatic activation device, which ordinarily deploys a reserve chute at a specific height and speed in the event the skydiver can’t do so themselves, the Guardian detailed. An investigation showed her equipment was functioning correctly after her descent, the report said.

Damarell had been dating Ben Goodfellow, a 26-year-old fellow skydiver, for eight months before breaking up, according to the Daily Mail.

Her family accepted the coroner’s findings and thanked the skydiving community for their support, expressing how “deeply honored, respected, and profoundly loved” she was, as mentioned in The Guardian.

They celebrated Damarell as “exceptional, stunning, courageous, and truly remarkable,” and expressed a desire to promote a culture where mental health issues receive empathy and assistance, the outlet reported.

Leslie Hamilton did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
