Shannon Sharpe, rape accuser settle $50 million lawsuit

Shannon Sharpe has reached a settlement agreement in his $50 million rape and sexual battery lawsuit.

“Following extended and respectful discussions, I’m happy to report that we have achieved a resolution that is agreeable to both parties,” announced the accuser’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, in a statement on Instagram Friday.

“All matters have now been addressed satisfactorily, and the matter is closed. The lawsuit will thus be dismissed with prejudice.”

Terms of the settlement have not been made public.

A rep for Sharpe did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

In her initial lawsuit, submitted in April, the accuser of the NFL icon — referred to only as Jane Doe — alleged that Sharpe, aged 56, sexually assaulted her several times at the close of 2024 and the onset of 2025.

The pair encountered each other at a Los Angeles gym in 2023 when she was 20 and he was in his mid-50s. They quickly found themselves entangled in a “turbulent” relationship, as per the lawsuit.

She also claimed that soon after their initial meeting, Sharpe began to aggressively pursue her by calling, texting and “demanding she come to his Beverly Glen mansion.”

Around the same time, an audio recording believed to be of Sharpe threatening to “f–king choke the s–t out of” Doe was released by Doe’s legal team.

Seemingly in response, Sharpe released screenshots of graphic messages between himself and Doe in an attempt to prove that their relationship was consensual and involved “role-playing” and “fantasy.”

At the time, Sharpe “categorically” denied Doe’s allegations against him and threatened to sue for defamation.

“Mr. Sharpe categorically denies all allegations of coercion or misconduct – especially the gross lie of ‘rape’ — and will not submit to what he sees as an egregious attempt at blackmail,” said Sharpe’s attorney, Lanny J. Davis, in a statement.

“He stands firmly by the truth and is prepared to fight these false claims vigorously in court. He looks forward to vindication through due process and a judgment based on the facts and the law.”
