JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Cat owners and those who care for community cats in Camden County now have an opportunity to take advantage of free spay and neuter procedures, thanks to the Jacksonville-based nonprofit, EveryPet.

Typically, EveryPet is recognized for delivering spay and neuter programs across Northeast Florida. However, their complimentary cat surgery services are usually reserved for Duval County residents, owing to a partnership with the City of Jacksonville.

For a limited duration, EveryPet is offering free surgical procedures for both owned and community cats, along with essential vaccinations against viruses such as rabies and panleukopenia. This initiative will continue as long as the program’s funds allow.

Given the scarcity of shelter options for cats in Camden County, addressing the issue of overpopulation is crucial. Cats have a gestation period of just over two months, enabling them to produce several litters and potentially over two dozen kittens annually.

Stray and feral cats can be brought in during regular intake hours, provided they are in humane traps. These cats will also receive an ear tip to indicate they have been fixed. Owners of pet cats are required to schedule an appointment, which can be arranged by calling 904-425-0005. Proof of Camden County residency is necessary for caretakers seeking this service.

Community cat intake times at EveryPet’s Norwood spay and neuter clinic are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

“By working together, we can humanely reduce cat overpopulation and create a healthier future for cats—and the people who care for them,” EveryPet said in its announcement.
