West Virginia librarian arrested for allegedly recruiting people on social media to assassinate Trump

A librarian from West Virginia is facing charges after allegedly posting videos online in an attempt to recruit individuals to assassinate former President Donald Trump.

On Sunday evening, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department revealed that Morgan L. Morrow, a resident of Ripley, West Virginia, has been charged with one count of making a terroristic threat.

According to the sheriff’s department, Morrow, who works at the Jackson County Public Library, used social media platforms to attempt to recruit people for plotting against President Trump.

“We will release additional information as we continue to gather facts and advance the investigation,” stated Jackson County Sheriff RH Mellinger. “Please note that this is not intended to serve as a politically charged statement. This is an ongoing criminal investigation with serious and concerning elements.”

Morgan Morrow, aged 39, now faces a charge of making terroristic threats, according to the Jackson County WV Sheriff’s Department.

The sheriff’s department’s announcement followed the release of a video allegedly posted by Morrow, which was shared by the social media account Libs of TikTok.

The video was captioned: “Surely a sniper with a terminal illness cannot be a big ask out of 343 million.”

In the comments of Morrow’s Instagram video, others also proposed the assassinations of White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller as well as tech CEO Larry Ellison and Silicon Valley entrepreneur Peter Thiel.

“The comments recently made by an employee do not reflect the mission, values, or standards of conduct of our organization. We take our responsibilities to the public and our supporters seriously and are committed to professionalism, respect, and integrity in all that we do,” the library said.

“The views expressed are made in an individual capacity and do not represent the position of the organization.
