HERSHEY, Pa. — Frightening video shows a young boy walking along the monorail track in Hersheypark.
A statement from Hersheypark revealed that a young boy went missing shortly after 5 p.m. on Saturday, having become separated from his family.
As search teams endeavored to locate him, the boy wandered into a restricted area designated for the monorail ride, which the park noted was not operational at the time. The area was secured with a chain blocking the entrance and a barricaded turnstile at the platform while the incident unfolded.
The child remained at the closed station for about 20 minutes before he began briefly walking along the monorail track, the park said.
Video recordings show crowds assembling below the tracks, attempting to direct the boy to safety as he was at risk of falling. In the end, a visitor to the park climbed up onto the rail to rescue him.
Once park officials noticed the boy on the tracks, they quickly intervened and safely returned him to his parents by approximately 5:30 p.m., with no injuries reported.
“We appreciate the alertness of our guests and the prompt action of our staff, and we are dedicated to sustaining the highest standards of visitor safety throughout Hersheypark,” officials stated.
