Two teens arrested after 15-year-old shot near Washington DC's Union Station

On Saturday, authorities apprehended two teenagers connected to a brazen shooting that unfolded in broad daylight near Union Station in Washington, D.C. The incident resulted in a 15-year-old boy sustaining a gunshot wound.

According to police reports, the two suspects, a 17-year-old from Northeast D.C. and a 16-year-old from Southeast D.C., now face charges of assault with a dangerous weapon.

The shooting took place on Massachusetts Avenue NE, near North Capitol Street. This location is a significant thoroughfare situated close to both the U.S. Capitol and Union Station, areas that are typically under heightened security and frequent federal law enforcement presence.

Following the incident, a scene of law enforcement officers and emergency vehicles converged near the U.S. Capitol complex in response to the shooting of the teenage boy on Friday afternoon along Massachusetts Avenue NE.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) detailed that officers from the First District were dispatched to the site around 4:10 p.m. on Friday after receiving reports of the shooting in the unit block of Massachusetts Avenue NE.

In an official statement, the MPD confirmed, “A 15-year-old juvenile male was located conscious and breathing, suffering from a gunshot wound,” underlining the urgency of the response.

DC Fire and EMS transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
