Authorities from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office report that between April and November 2024, a total of $98,075.95 was stolen.
ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — On Tuesday, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office revealed the arrest of a Jacksonville caregiver accused of embezzling close to $100,000 from an elderly individual under her care.
The sheriff’s office indicated that in January 2025, the elderly victim noticed a significant sum missing from her bank account. An investigation unveiled that, starting in February 2024, 38-year-old Stacy Ann Gordon, the victim’s caregiver, had illicitly opened a credit card in the victim’s name. This fraudulent account, created using the patient’s personal data, was connected to a business run by Gordon.
Investigators found that, over the span from April to November 2024, Gordon allegedly stole more than $98,075.95. Evidence suggests her actions were aimed at permanently depriving the victim of her financial assets.
Authorities tracked Gordon to New Jersey in January 2026, where she was arrested under a warrant.
Gordon faces charges including a scheme to defraud $50,000 or more, criminal use of personal identification information, grand theft, and exploitation of an elderly person.
