South Chicago crime: Chicago Police Department issues warning about armed robbery incidents in South Side neighborhood

CHICAGO (WLS) — Chicago police are warning South Side residents about a series of armed robberies.

The thieves have targeted at least seven people in the city’s South Chicago neighborhood, with the latest robbery happening on Saturday morning.

According to police, in each of these incidents, between one and three suspects approach the victims, brandishing a firearm and demanding their belongings. The perpetrators then escape either on foot or in a vehicle, possibly a dark-colored four-door sedan.

The robberies happened at the following times and locations:

  • 2400-block of E. 78th St. on July 18 at 7:41 a.m.

  • 7700-block of S. Marquette on July 18 at 8:55 a.m.

  • 2500-block of E. 77th St. on July 19 at 1 p.m.

  • 7700-block of S. Kingston Ave. on July 20 at 9:44 a.m.

  • 2400-block of E. 78th St. on July 25 at 7:30 a.m.

  • 7800-block of S. South Shore Dr. July 25 at 12:10 p.m.

  • 2500-block of E. 79th St. on July 26 at 7 a.m.

The suspects are described as one to three males between 14 and 20 years old.
