THIS is the shocking moment a furious Spanish cop slapped a crazed Brit driver after a dramatic car chase near Benidorm.

Spaniards can be heard shouting “Son of a b**ch” as they urge the cops to kill him.

The incredible footage captures a Guardia Civil officer striking the Brit on the head and ordering him to keep quiet while being forced into a police vehicle.

The Brit can be seen protesting after being pinned to the ground with his T-shirt pulled up round his neck.

An irate bystander is later seen approaching the scene a split-second after the bombshell arrest to urge police: “Cover his head up and kill him.”

A woman can be heard shouting, “Son of a b**ch,” as the man is hauled up with his hands handcuffed behind him, legs pinned together, and pushed toward his chest.

Another local watching the surreal scene unfolding is heard saying ironically: “This one is going to sleep in a warm place tonight.”

The Brit has been identified as a 49-year-old man but has not yet been named.

He was arrested for alleged reckless driving and driving under the influence of drugs.

The Brit created chaos by driving the wrong direction up the A-7 motorway, resulting in a police chase for over six miles before tearing through the Costa Blanca town of Alcoy near Benidorm.

Videos of the crazy chase show the Brit speeding past an astonished Spanish motorist and veering onto the wrong side of the road in a red Honda Civic hatchback as he was pursued by flashing cars.

Later into the pursuit other motorists were put in danger as he sped through built-up areas across roundabouts and down narrow streets.

The chase ended as he smashed into parked cars in a main road in Alcoy.

Miraculously no-one was injured in the drama with only material damage to other vehicles he hit before and when he came to a halt.

Alcoy Town Hall’s Security Councillor Raul Llopis said: “Luckily no-one was injured and the damage was just material damage to cars that were hit.”

But a fresh video that emerged overnight showed a Civil Guard officer asking for help for a female colleague who appeared to have been injured as the arrest was carried out.

The incident began at around 6pm yesterday when Civil Guard officers were alerted to the fact a driver was speeding the wrong way up the A7 motorway towards Valencia.

Cops from other forces, including local town hall-employed officers and the National Police, were called on to assist and try to stop him as he reached the town.

Civil Guard traffic officers from Benidorm are now preparing a report for a local court.

It was not immediately clear today whether the arrested man had already appeared before an investigating judge who will be tasked with deciding whether to remand him in custody or release him on bail pending an ongoing probe.

No information has yet come out on whether the detainee owned the vehicle he was driving and lives in the area, or was a holidaymaker using a borrowed car.
