ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — On Tuesday, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office made available footage depicting an attempted kidnapping at a business located at 1000 SR 206 East in St. Augustine. The footage captures a man trying to force a woman into a car while she shouts for him to get off her. Police reports indicate that the woman eventually broke free and was assisted by a passerby.
According to the SJSO, the woman worked at the establishment. The suspect allegedly robbed the business before dragging her outside and attempting to put her into his vehicle. Authorities stated that she managed to escape and seek help from a nearby individual, who then alerted the police. The suspect fled the area but was reportedly spotted driving erratically near Marineland on A1A.
Police identified the suspect as 31-year-old Theodore Michael Tundidor.
Tundidor discovered by Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission officers, who pursued and captured him.
He was charged by SJSO with kidnapping, robbery, and grand theft auto.
FWC added additional charges for driving under the influence and fleeing and eluding law enforcement.
SJSO says the victim said did “everything right,” by screaming, fighting and attempting to attract attention.
