A St. Augustine man has been found guilty of assaulting his wife and holding both her and their son at gunpoint, according to an announcement from the State Attorney’s Office. This verdict follows a three-day trial, as reported by the office of State Attorney R.J. Larizza.
The incident dates back to May 2, 2025, when Yuvrajjit Gill allegedly threatened his wife with a firearm before forcibly taking her to the master bedroom of their home. There, Gill reportedly subjected her to a brutal attack, using both his fists and a shoe, as outlined by the State Attorney’s Office.
The couple’s son, upon entering the room during the altercation, was commanded by Gill to sit beside his mother. The State Attorney’s Office alleges that Gill confiscated the boy’s phone and continued his violent assault, keeping both mother and child as hostages at gunpoint for over an hour.
The ordeal came to an end when the victims managed to escape and seek refuge at a neighbor’s house. Responding to the situation, deputies from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office arrested Gill after discovering a firearm that matched the description given by the victims.
On March 27, a jury in St. Johns County delivered a guilty verdict against Gill on multiple charges. These include two counts of armed false imprisonment, aggravated assault with a firearm, improper exhibition of a firearm, domestic violence battery, battery, and tampering with a witness by depriving communication to law enforcement.
