Dozens of Starbucks locations that are closing this weekend have been identified by employees and confirmed through the coffee chain’s website.
WASHINGTON — Starbucks announced Thursday it’s closing hundreds of stores in the U.S., Canada and Europe.
The Seattle-based coffee company announced that store closures would begin right away. While the exact number of stores set to close hasn’t been disclosed, most of the closures seem to be in the U.S. and Canada.
Starbucks anticipates having 18,300 North American locations by the end of its fiscal year on Sunday. The company had 18,734 locations as of June 29.
Starbucks has yet to release a public list of store closings. However, the company stated that by Sunday, the Starbucks app will reflect the latest hours of operation, including any closures.
Workers from Starbucks outlets nationwide have started posting online that their stores are closing. Using this information, we verified listings on the Starbucks online store locators.
Under store hours, locations shutting down have “closed” listed for Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and so on.
As of September 25, we’ve identified at least 90 Starbucks stores slated for closure based on details from the company’s website. While this is not a comprehensive list of the hundreds expected to close, it will be updated continuously as more locations are confirmed.
