A man accused of assaulting a subway passenger while shouting homophobic insults was apprehended after evading capture for three months. His arrest came during an attempt to evade paying a train fare, according to police and insider reports.
The suspect, Yeshayahu Carraway, 41, allegedly attacked a 24-year-old man after trailing him off a northbound L train at Williamsburg’s Lorimer Street station around 5:00 a.m. on January 18, authorities reported.
Brandishing a knife, Carraway reportedly hurled anti-gay slurs while violently hitting the victim on the head and body. After the assault, the assailant fled the scene, officers stated.

Despite sustaining minor injuries, the victim declined medical assistance at the location, as noted by officials.
Carraway’s unlawful actions eventually led to his capture. He was taken into custody on a Saturday evening around 7:40 p.m., when officers spotted him attempting to avoid the subway fare by slipping through the emergency gate at the Hunts Point Avenue station in the Bronx, sources revealed.

The intolerant terror was arrested Saturday night at 7:40 p.m. after cops caught him trying to duck the subway fare by entering through the emergency gate at Hunts Point Avenue stop in the Bronx, sources said.
It was while Carraway was in custody for fare evasion that cops also connected him to the hateful attack, sources said.
The incident wasn’t Carraway’s first run-in with the law.
The brute has been cuffed for putting his hands on people several times before, having been arrested for assault in 2011 and 2017, according to sources.
