JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Baymeadows Christian Academy & Preschool confirmed on Monday to First Coast News that a teacher from their school was arrested on Wednesday.
The school did not identify the teacher.
“Following the initiation of an investigation, the teacher was taken out of the classroom and their employment was terminated,” a school spokesperson informed First Coast News.
The school representative noted that both the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the teacher’s arrest.
Parents were notified the night before the teacher’s arrest when DCF began speaking to children in the classroom.
A formal letter was sent home with students Thursday to notify parents that the teacher would not be returning to the classroom, the official said.
