A teenager miraculously survived an alleged “honor killing” attempt by her parents and confronted them in a Washington courtroom on Monday during their sentencing, an event recorded on video.

The young woman addressed her parents, Ihsan and Zahraa Ali, with great emotion before the sentencing, as reported by KING 5. Her parents faced allegations of attempting to kill her in October 2024, when she was just 17.

“You’re a monster, and I can’t believe you’re my dad,” the daughter expressed to her father in her victim impact statement, according to the outlet. “How could you claim to be a father… you tried to kill me! My dad tried to kill me with his own hands.”

Turning to her mother, she continued, “My mom witnessed me almost dying right in front of her and did nothing to help, didn’t check if I was okay… didn’t even try to be there for me.”

Judge Schaller condemned the father’s actions, saying, “Your behavior was despicable and beyond justification. You weren’t willing to let her go; you weren’t willing to let her breathe because nobody else would control the situation… you insisted on maintaining control.”

According to the outlet, both parents were found not guilty of the attempted murder charges associated with the assault. However, the father was found guilty of assault and unlawful imprisonment, while the mother was convicted of breaching a restraining order.

They received the maximum sentences allowed of 20 months in prison for the father and nearly a year for the mother, KING 5 reported.

As part of the sentencing, Ihsan Ali was also ordered not to have any contact with his daughter for the next 10 years.

Fox News Digital reached out to the parents’ attorney and Thurston County Court for comment.
