1-year-old injured after teen driver crashes car off Oklahoma bridge

In a dramatic incident early Saturday morning, a vehicle careened off a bridge in Tulsa, plummeting onto an interstate below and leaving a 1-year-old child injured. The crash forced authorities to close the highway as emergency teams swiftly responded to the urgent situation.

The car had crashed through a fence and fallen from an overpass, creating a chaotic scene on the interstate.

Amid the wreckage, dispatchers reported hearing the cries of a child, adding urgency to the rescue efforts. Inside the vehicle were a 17-year-old driver, an 18-year-old passenger, and the aforementioned 1-year-old child, police confirmed.

Investigators revealed that the young driver had failed to stop at a stop sign. Subsequently, he was unable to navigate a slight curve, causing the car to hit a curb. This impact launched the vehicle airborne over a drainage ditch, culminating in the unfortunate accident.

The 17-year-old did not stop at a stop sign before he failed to make a turn in the slight curve in the road, striking a curb that sent the car airborne over a drainage ditch, police said.
