LOS ANGELES — Authorities have identified the body found in the front trunk of an impounded Tesla, which is registered to singer D4vd, as that of a teenage girl, as reported by law enforcement sources to ABC News on Tuesday.
The grim discover was made Sept. 8 after police responded to a tow yard near Mansfield Avenue and Romaine Street in Hollywood.
The discovery happened after officers responded to complaints of a foul smell emanating from the Tesla. Police sources mentioned that the car had been in the impound lot for two days, abandoned at Bluebird Avenue and Doheny Drive.
Forensic analysis revealed the victim to be a young girl approximately 14 to 15 years old. Her identity has not been disclosed, and efforts are underway to inform her family.
The Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office has been unable to determine a cause of death.
A body was discovered decomposing in a Tesla, registered to singer D4vd, two days post towing from a Los Angeles street, per police sources.
According to LAPD sources, the body was concealed in a bag inside the Tesla’s front trunk, and it had started decomposing, as informed to ABC News.
This Tesla is linked to singer D4vd, noted for songs like “Here with Me” and “Romantic Homicide,” and boasting over 33 million Spotify listeners monthly.
Eyewitness News has learned the girl described as having wavy black hair, 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 71 pounds. She was found wearing a tube top, black leggings, yellow metal bracelet and metal stud earrings.
The woman also had a tattoo on her right index finger that said “Shhh…”
Sources told ABC News she appeared to have been dead for some time. Investigators will be relying heavily on the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner to identify the victim and to figure out the cause of death, police sources said.
Last week, investigators intended to talk to the registered owner of the vehicle, as well as anyone else who may be connected to the case, sources said.
D4vd, who first went viral on TikTok, released his debut album in April. The 20-year-old singer, known for his indie, R&B and alt-pop sound, is currently on tour. He is set to perform in Los Angeles on Sept. 20.
