TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — A 15-year-old was taken into custody after allegedly firing at least eight rounds at police officers in Tuscaloosa Monday.
Tuscaloosa police were patrolling in the area of the 600 block of 23rd Ave East due to reports of a shooting the day before. As officers were patrolling the area, a male was seen standing with a firearm in his hand, wearing a mask, and fired at least eight rounds at the officers. The officers patrol vehicle was not struck, but an occupied residence was struck on the opposite side of the street.
After speaking with witnesses from the neighborhood, reviewing dash cam footage and surveillance video, a 15-year-old juvenile was developed as a suspect. The juvenile was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder and shooting into an occupied residence. They were taken into juvenile detention. Officers believe the suspect was involved in the shooting from the previous day as well.
Due to their age, no identifying information will be released.
