BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Birmingham Police Department has arrested a 16-year-old in connection to a shooting that killed one person and injured two others, including a juvenile, earlier this month.
On Friday, March 21, South Precinct officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard due to a report of a person shot. Officers discovered an adult male victim lying in a backyard in the 300 block of Iota Avenue. The victim, identified as Dorian Jackson, 20, of Birmingham, was pronounced dead at UAB Hospital. Two additional victims, an adult female and a 12-year-old juvenile, arrived at a hospital in a private vehicle.
The BPD’s Crime Reduction Team arrested the 16-year-old suspect at a residence in East Birmingham on Tuesday.
On Thursday, detectives with the BPD presented case information to the Jefferson County Magistrate’s Office. The suspect was issued warrants for Capital Murder, two counts of Attempted Murder, Discharging Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling, Discharging Firearm into an Occupied Vehicle and Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Pistol.
The suspect is charged as an adult and will be held in custody at the Jefferson County Jail with no bond.
