FLEMING ISLAND, Fla. — A teenager, aged 17, is facing numerous charges following a late-night shooting on Sunday at the Lakeshore Boat Ramp, Fleming Island, which resulted in a 19-year-old being hospitalized, as per the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. Due to his age, the teen’s name is not being disclosed by First Coast News.
The sheriff’s office reported that they received a 911 call shortly after 11 p.m. on August 31 from an individual who heard gunshots at the boat ramp. The caller also provided descriptions of two vehicles that departed the scene soon after the shots were fired.
One of those vehicles was intercepted near County Road 220 and Lakeshore Boulevard. Officials stated that the 17-year-old passenger fled from the car while the driver remained and was detained. According to CCSO, deputies swiftly established a perimeter, and with assistance from a K-9 unit, the teenager was located hiding in bushes behind a nearby business. Meanwhile, the second vehicle from the incident took a 19-year-old to HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital. Deputies mentioned he had been shot once and was in a critical yet stable condition.
