Celeste Rivas Hernandez, a teenager who had run away, was discovered deceased inside an abandoned Tesla belonging to singer D4vd in Los Angeles. Authorities suspect that she had been dead for “several weeks” due to the advanced state of decomposition.
The investigation into the girl’s death began after her decayed body was found on September 8, when the “Romantic Homicide” singer’s car was taken to a towing facility in Hollywood.
The gruesome discovery was made a day after Celeste’s 15th birthday, meaning she was just 14 when she died.
According to LAPD Captain Scot M. Williams, “The Tesla had been parked at its previous location for several weeks, so it’s highly probable that Celeste Rivas Hernandez had already been deceased for several weeks before the body was discovered.”
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has yet to determine the cause or manner of her death. As a result, it is unclear whether there is criminal responsibility in her death other than the concealment of her body.
D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, has not been named as a suspect in the twisted case.
The singer-songwriter, who gained global popularity through TikTok, is reported to be working with law enforcement amid the ongoing investigation.
This follows a police search of the artist’s Hollywood Hills residence, where they confiscated “several items of evidence” as they explored further connections between the teenager and the pop star.
Cops, however, refused to speculate on the nature of their relationship.
“We are looking into everything,” Williams said. “As far as their relationship, it would be premature for me to say anything.”
Previously emerged screenshots of old messages on D4vd’s Discord fan server showed he was rumored to be dating a teen named “Celeste” in the years before Rivas Hernandez was found dead.
D4vd also once made an unreleased track in which he mentioned the name “Celeste” twice and her mom noted the teen had been dating someone called “David.”
