A police officer in Tennessee is fighting for his life following a collision with a state trooper during Vice President JD Vance’s motorcade on Friday.
The accident took place in Maryville, Tennessee, as confirmed by local authorities.
The officer, who was on a motorcycle at the time of the crash, was part of the escort team assisting with the vice president’s motorcade. Similarly, the state trooper involved was also providing support during the event.

The trooper was taken to a hospital for assessment and treatment, although the extent of his injuries has not been disclosed.
The officer, who sustained serious injuries, was rushed to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.
Maryville Police Chief Tony Crisp released a statement urging the community to keep the injured officer, his family, and the medical team in their thoughts and prayers. “The Maryville Police Department is deeply grateful for the overwhelming support and concern from our wonderful community,” he added.

The trooper was also transported to the hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
