On Monday, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Texas successfully apprehended a Mexican national who had been on the run, wanted for the brutal murder of a woman years after being deported from the United States.

Identified as Hernan Perez Juarez, also known by the alias “Patricio Perez,” the 41-year-old faces murder charges linked to the gruesome killing on May 8, 2020. The victim was discovered in her Georgetown, Texas, home, lying in the bathtub with a severe wound to her lower abdomen.

According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Perez Juarez was deported in 2018 following an immigration violation and had no legal standing to reside in the U.S.

The U.S. Marshals provided a photo of Hernan Perez Juarez's recent arrest.

Perez Juarez is believed to have illegally re-entered the country prior to committing the crime. Authorities later located his vehicle abandoned in Laredo, close to Mexico’s international border, as reported by the U.S. Marshals.

In March 2022, the Georgetown Police Department (GPD) issued an arrest warrant for Perez Juarez, but the investigation faced delays due to his unknown location.

Earlier this month, an Austin-based task force learned Perez Juarez returned to the U.S. illegally, according to the U.S. Marshals.

He was arrested in Temple, Texas on Monday and taken to the Williamson County Jail awaiting further judicial proceedings.

ICE has filed an immigration detainer on Perez Juarez following the judicial process in Williamson County, according to the U.S. Marshals.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
