The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer, urging Texas authorities to keep a suspected illegal immigrant in custody. This individual is accused of gruesomely slashing his wife’s throat with a pocketknife in Dallas.
Francisco Mendez-Marin, a 24-year-old undocumented immigrant from Mexico, was apprehended by the Carrolton Police Department on March 18. He faces charges of felony homicide for allegedly murdering his 20-year-old wife, Karla Rangel, amid a domestic altercation.
According to FOX 4 Dallas, the couple had been married for a mere few weeks before the tragic incident occurred.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Mendez-Marin with blood-stained clothing and a bloody pocketknife, as reported by authorities.

Body camera footage reportedly captures Mendez-Marin speaking in Spanish to the officers, stating, “I didn’t do anything bad,” and claiming, “I was obligated to do it,” according to the arrest affidavit.

“This depraved animal murdered his own wife just one month after they were married by brutally slitting her throat with a pocketknife,” DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis wrote in a statement. “This illegal alien should have never been allowed into our country to commit this heinous murder.”

“ICE requested authorities in Dallas to not release this cold-blooded killer onto the streets,” she continued. “Thankfully, Dallas politicians cooperate with ICE, so together we can ensure this murderer is NEVER loose in American communities.”
