When You Lose ‘The View’: Co-Hosts Destroy Democrat Narrative About Trump Airstrikes

During a panel discussion on the ABC talk show this Monday, the cohosts invited ABC News’ Chief Washington Correspondent Jonathan Karl to discuss the potential “ramifications” for the president following urgent calls for Trump’s impeachment by Democrats such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), after the U.S. targeted Iran’s nuclear capabilities.

Sunny Hostin questioned Karl regarding the Congress members who are challenging the actions’ “constitutionality” from Saturday, alleging that he “bypassed Congress” and “possibly violated the War Powers Resolution.”

“President after president after president has launched military action without the approval of Congress,” Karl told the cohost.

“And Congress under Democrat or Republican leadership has complained the president is violating the War Powers Act,” Karl continued. “This is not new. I mean, I go back. I covered [former] President Bill Clinton in the military strikes against Kosovo back in 1999.”

She agreed that “presidents” on both sides of the aisle have done similar to what Trump did, and she said, “That’s why I think it’s more of a ‘violation’ of some kind of International Law,” without explaining what that would be.

Joy Behar then pressed the ABC News correspondent, “What’s the good of having it if they all violated it?”

Cohost Alyssa Farah interjected and made it clear that the 2001 AUMF (Authorization for Use of Military Force) has been used “to authorize every military strike in about 25 years.”

“Congress can’t be feckless [about AUMF] and then be mad when they don’t like the outcome,” Farah added.

RedState reported on the Democrat meltdown following the success of the attacks on the Islamic State’s nuclear facilities.

“First, the Trump administration bears the heavy burden of explaining to the American people why this military action was undertaken,” Jeffries continued on social media. “Second, Congress must be fully and immediately briefed in a classified setting.”

AOC took things even further and said it was “absolutely grounds for impeachment.”

While Chief-Lies-A-Lot, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), couldn’t help but be the ever-aggrieved schoolmarm about the actions.

CNN even tried to claim that Trump had somehow notified GOP leaders ahead of the airstrikes but not Democratic ones “until after the bombs had dropped,” before it had to edit the headline after White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt set the record straight, RedState reported.

“The White House made calls to congressional leadership. They were bipartisan calls. In fact, Hakeem Jeffries couldn’t be reached. We tried him before the strike, and he did not pick up the phone, but he was briefed after, as well as Chuck Schumer was briefed before prior to the strike,” Leavitt said.

“So this notion that CNN ran with that the White House did not give a heads-up to Democrats is just completely false,” she added.

Rusty Weiss noted:

The article now appears with a correction at the top stating, “Schumer was called before the strike, not after as initially reported,” and they added Leavitt’s remarks regarding Jeffries.

Interestingly, the CNN column now states that their sources admit the administration “made multiple efforts to reach Jeffries in advance of the strikes after talking to Schumer.”
