Emmy-winning 'The Simpsons' writer Dan McGrath dies at 61

Chuck Negron, the distinctive voice behind several iconic tracks such as “Joy to the World” and “An Old Fashioned Love Song,” has passed away at the age of 83. A co-founder of the legendary rock group Three Dog Night, Negron was instrumental in the band’s success during the late 1960s and early 1970s.

According to his publicist, Zach Farnum, Negron succumbed to complications from heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at his residence in Studio City, Los Angeles.

Negron lent his powerful vocals to numerous hits, including “Easy To Be Hard” and “The Show Must Go On.” However, his struggle with substance abuse led to his departure from the band in late 1985.

The formation of Three Dog Night took place in 1967 when Negron teamed up with Danny Hutton and Cory Wells, drawing on their R&B, rock ‘n’ roll, and doo-wop influences. Their breakthrough came in 1969 with the million-selling single “One,” penned by Harry Nilsson.

In 1967, Negron joined Danny Hutton and Cory Wells to form Three Dog Night, a vocal trio with roots in R&B, rock ‘n’ roll, and urban doo wop. They found success two years later with their first million-selling single “One,” written by Harry Nilsson.
