A young woman has shared her “genius” side hustle that funded her move to the other side of the world.
Emily Brogan, an Australian TikTok influencer living in London, said she was able to secure up to $600 a week on top of her regular job by helping women in wealthy areas organize their homes.
The Brisbane local advertised her services – including organizing and color coordinating wardrobes, linen cupboards, and pantries – on local Facebook groups, and soon had the job offers coming in.
“I posted in them and I was like, ‘Hey guys, like I have extreme OCD. I love organizing and I have this dream to move to London, if you want to help me you could hire me to come and I charge $50 an hour,” she said in a video on her TikTok.
She said she targeted groups in prestigious areas of the city who could afford to front up $50 for her services.
“I was like oh there’s no f****** way people are gonna pay me $50, wages in Australia like you know between like $20-30,” she said.
“I was charging double time here, I was charging for a bank holiday.
“I was inundated with people like rich mums being like, let me help you sweetie let me help you live out your dream.”
Brogan said she was booked “all the time”, working 12 hours a week on her side hustle.
That, on top of her 30-hour weeks working in retail, allowed her to save up for her overseas journey faster.
“It was such a good time, I was rocking up to these houses and untangling necklaces for 30 minutes for $50,” she said.
The young woman then went on to urge others to consider their own side hustles in order to make their dreams come true.
“So many people, if you have a vision, make that s*** happen,” she said.
“There are no excuses if you have a goal in mind set your mind to it and it will f****** happen.”
