Toyota is recalling close to 400,000 cars due to a fault that may prevent the rearview camera from showing images while reversing, heightening the chances of an accident, according to federal traffic safety authorities.
The recall encompasses 2022-2025 Toyota Tundra models, including their hybrid versions, and 2023-2025 Sequoia hybrids, tallying up to 393,838 vehicles. More than half of these are non-hybrid Tundras.
The camera display malfunction is caused by a software problem, which will be fixed with an update by dealerships free of charge.
Toyota plans to send out notification letters to owners by November 16. For any inquiries, owners may reach Toyota at 1-800-331-4331. The recall identifiers are 25TB10 and 25TA10.
Additionally, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety Hotline can be contacted at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-888-275-9171), or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information.
