A JEA spokesperson crews will be working Bay Street near the Maxwell House Coffee plant throughout the week to replace a damaged sewage line.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — This week, Bay Street in Downtown Jacksonville will be limited to just a single eastbound lane while JEA teams address repairs on a collapsed section of the roadway, as stated by a JEA representative.

According to JEA spokesperson Karen McAllister, teams were notified of the collapse above a primary sewage line on Bay Street late Sunday night. Crews have been actively assessing the situation and initiating repairs since then.

McAllister said crews are working to learn what caused the cave in.

All westbound lanes of Bay Street by the Maxwell House Coffee plant are shut down, and only one eastbound lane is open.

McAllister said crews will be on site throughout the week, adding that the sewer main, 12-14 feet underground, will need to be replaced.
