A 7-year-old Nevada girl died after being struck by a falling boulder at a ski resort on Saturday, officials said.
Adelyn Grimes from Reno, Nevada, was recognized by the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office following the tragic event at Diamond Peak Ski Resort in Incline Village, a few miles from the stunning Lake Tahoe.
“The sudden death of a child is an unfathomable tragedy for which no one can truly be prepared,” wrote Grimes’ aunt, Sabina Grimes, on a GoFundMe page. “Our cherished brother and sister have experienced a profound loss with the recent passing of their dear daughter Addie.”
They noted that they believe that there is no foul play involved.

The young girl was part of the Sugar Bowl race team, participating in an under-12 skiing championship at the resort, according to a report from the Reno Gazette Journal.
“The entire Diamond Peak Ski Resort family has been deeply affected by a tragedy that occurred Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the resort,” the resort said.
