A DOORDASH executive died in a horrific boating accident along with seven other individuals.
Josh Pickles, 37, died on June 21 after his boat capsized while sailing on Lake Tahoe.
Pickles was on board with his parents, Terry Pickles, 73, and Paula Bozinovic, 71, and uncle Peter Bayes, 72, according to ABC affiliate KGO.
Everyone on Pickles’ board died along with four other victims Timothy O’Leary, 71, James Guck, 69, Theresa Giullari, 66, and Stephen Lindsay, 63.
Only two people survived the accident; however, their condition is unknown.
The crash marks the deadliest boating incident in California since 2019.
Josh set out on his “Chris-Craft” luxury powerboat on June 21 to celebrate his mother’s 71st birthday.
Around 5 pm that day, authorities received a report that the executive’s boat had capsized after a storm.
“This devastating and sorrowful event claimed the lives of Joshua Pickles, alongside his father Terry, his mother Paula, his uncle Peter, and other friends and family,” a representative for Pickles shared with the media outlet.
“The family has homes in the Bay Area as well as on Lake Tahoe.
“They love the lake. That adds to the tragedy that has occurred.”
Josh’s wife Jordan, who was at home with their 7-month-old during the incident, said her life is forever changed.
“We are devastated by this tragedy,” she said.
“No words can express the pain and anguish we feel knowing their lives were lost during what was meant to be a joyful time on the lake.
“Our hearts go out to those who tragically lost their lives and the two survivors of this unexpected and deadly storm on Lake Tahoe.”
Josh had dedicated nearly seven years to his role at DoorDash, most recently holding the position of global head of strategic sourcing and procurement within the finance team.
