BRENTWOOD, Calif. — Tragedy struck a Los Angeles residence linked to renowned director Rob Reiner on Sunday, where two individuals were discovered dead, prompting the Los Angeles Police Department to initiate a homicide investigation.
The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that firefighters were dispatched at 3:38 p.m. following a call for medical assistance at a home located in the 250 block of Chadbourne Avenue in Brentwood. The victims, a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman, have been identified by age but not by name.
According to senior law enforcement officials, both victims suffered fatal stab wounds.

Initially, authorities began a routine death inquiry, which quickly escalated to a murder investigation. Sources from the LAPD confirmed to ABC News that property records indicate the home is owned by Reiner.
The investigation is being spearheaded by the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division, with senior department officials actively involved at the crime scene.
A neighbor reported seeing actors Billy Crystal and Larry David visiting the residence separately on Sunday evening. The comedians stayed briefly, with the neighbor noting that Crystal appeared visibly upset, seemingly on the verge of tears.
The Reiner family also owns a house across the street from the home where the bodies were found. Reiner and his wife live in one, and his daughter with children lives in the other.
The son of comedy legend Carl Reiner, Rob Reiner is known for massive Hollywood hits, including “The Princess Bride,” “When Harry Met Sally…,” “Stand By Me,” “This is Spinal Tap” and many more.
He and his wife, Michele Singer, got married in 1989 and share three children, Jake, Nick and Romy.
Reiner was previously married to actor-director Penny Marshall from 1971 to 1981. He adopted her daughter, Tracy Reiner. Carl Reiner died in 2020 at age 98 and Marshall died in 2018.
