A tragic incident unfolded on Thursday afternoon when a tour helicopter, known for offering thrilling aerial views, crashed on the Hawaiian island of Kauaʻi, resulting in the deaths of at least three individuals.
The ill-fated helicopter, operated by Airborne Aviation, was carrying a pilot along with four passengers when it plunged into the ocean near Kalalau Beach, located on the island’s picturesque northwest coast. The crash occurred around 3:45 p.m. local time, as confirmed by the Kauaʻi Police Department.
Authorities were alerted to the accident through the department’s innovative text-to-911 system, which enabled quick response to the emergency. In the aftermath of the crash, two survivors were promptly transported to Wilcox Medical Center in Lihue, situated on the opposite side of the island, where they received medical treatment, according to reports from local officials.
