JSO: Elderly man dead after hit-and-run on Vernon Road


A man was discovered on the road after being hit by an unidentified Dodge vehicle. The driver fled the scene, authorities reported.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — An elderly man tragically lost his life following a hit-and-run incident in Jacksonville on Saturday.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) responded to a call on Vernon Road shortly before 6 p.m. regarding a man lying in the roadway, having been struck by an unidentified Dodge. The vehicle’s driver left the scene without offering assistance or alerting the authorities.

The injured man was transported to a nearby hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries, officials confirmed.
