Shooting at North Carolina Christmas tree lighting leaves 4 people wounded

A Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Concord, North Carolina, was marred by gunfire on Friday, resulting in injuries to four individuals, as confirmed by the police.

According to the Concord Police Department, three of those injured are in critical condition, while the fourth person remains stable. All victims were promptly transported to a hospital for urgent medical care.

The incident unfolded at the city’s annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, taking place on Union Street S near the Corban Avenue intersection, just before 7:30 p.m.

Police respond to Concord shooting

The scene was chaotic, with a shooting disrupting the festive event in Concord, North Carolina, at the Christmas tree lighting.

Emergency responders, including the police, Concord Fire, and Cabarrus County EMS, were already present at the festivities and quickly administered medical assistance and arranged for the evacuation of attendees.

In the aftermath of the shooting, the remaining activities scheduled for the event were called off.

Concord Police said three victims were listed in critical condition and one was in stable condition. (WJZY)

The city said visitors should leave the area and drivers should seek alternate routes.

Concord Police said the incident remains under investigation.
