JSO Sergeant Highfill mentioned that both individuals were approximately 19-20 years old and had been in a relationship for the past two years.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Early Saturday morning, Jacksonville sheriff’s officers discovered the bodies of a man and woman in a suspected murder-suicide, as reported by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office investigators.

JSO Sergeant Highfill informed First Coast News that officers responded to a mobile home on the 11500 block of Lorence Avenue around 1:30 a.m. regarding a reported shooting.

When they arrived, Highfill said officers found the man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head, and the woman with a stab wound to her neck; both were found in the same room. Members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department then responded to the scene and pronounced both the man and woman dead, according to Highfill.

Highfill said the man and woman were both around 19-20 years old, said the two were in a relationship together over the last two years, and that they lived together.

Highfill further stated that the man left “multiple suicide notes.”

“It appears at this point that he stabbed the female and then took his own life,” Highfill said.

According to Highfill, no one else was at the home when the incident took place.

“[It was an] isolated incident, we don’t expect there to be any ongoing threat to the public at this point,” Highfill said.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
