Woman fatally stabbed on Peach Drive in Jacksonville

A woman in her 50s was found with stab wounds outside a home Saturday afternoon, according to JSO.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Northside community is on edge after a woman was stabbed to death on Peach Drive.

On Saturday shortly after 3 p.m., officers from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to a call in the Southside neighborhood of Jacksonville. Upon arrival, they discovered a woman in her 50s with stab wounds outside a home, and she was declared deceased at the scene.

Milton Brooks, who has lived in the neighborhood for more than 30 years, says the crime is unsettling.

“My main concern is just that they catch the people that done this, that’s the main concern,” said Brooks.

He told First Coast News he was shocked to learn what happened just blocks from his home.

“I thought it was a shooting at first, but then I heard that it was a stabbing,” said Brooks.

Residents noted that portions of the street were cordoned off for several hours on Saturday as investigators examined the area. They remarked that such an incident is unusual for this typically peaceful neighborhood.

“It’s been peaceful for a long time, it’s just disheartening when you hear something like this,”  said Brooks.

According to JSO, four people have been detained for questioning, but no arrests have been made.

Brooks tells First Coast News his heart is with the victim’s family.

“I feel deeply sorry for what happened to them, and I pray for the entire family. I hope the authorities catch the perpetrator and ensure they face justice,” expressed Brooks.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information to reach out. They can be contacted at 904-630-0500, via email at JSOCRIMETIPS@Jaxsheriff.org, or through Crimestoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
