The Colombian Civil Aviation Authority, known as Aerocivil, has confirmed the tragic deaths of six individuals in a plane crash, which included “the pilot, the co-pilot, and four passengers.”

COLOMBIA — In a devastating turn of events, Colombian music star Yeison Jiménez lost his life in a plane crash in South America on Saturday. The singer was just 34 years old, authorities have reported.

The ill-fated aircraft went down between Paipa and Duitama in Colombia, claiming the lives of everyone on board.

The Colombian Civil Aviation Authority, Aerocivil, identified those who perished in the crash as “the pilot, the co-pilot, and four passengers.”

Through a heartfelt statement on Yeison Jiménez’s Instagram account, his team expressed profound sorrow: “With heavy hearts and indescribable grief, we regret to announce the passing of Yeison Jiménez. Today, we bid farewell not just to an artist, but to a son, a brother, a friend, and a person full of dreams and courage, who inspired hope in thousands.”

Jiménez was en route to Medellín, Colombia, when the aircraft went down shortly after takeoff. According to Aerocivil, the plane’s emergency locator transmitter was activated, aiding rescue teams in locating the crash site.

An investigation is underway. There is no known cause of the crash at this time.

The Boyacá governor’s office said it regrets the crash and described Jiménez as “one of the most representative figures of Colombian popular music,” in a statement translated from Spanish.

They identified the other victims as Captain Hernando Torres, Juan Manuel Rodríguez, Óscar Marín, Jefferson Osorio and Weisman Mora.

Jiménez began making music at 7 years old, according to his Spotify biography. At 14, while working in a wholesale food market, he recorded five musical tracks which were part of his debut album in 2013.

Jiménez has more than 3.1 million monthly listeners on Spotify with “Guaro (Remix),” “Aventurero,” and “Hasta La Madre” listed as some of his most popular tracks.
