An FDNY firefighter suffered a medical episode and died while battling a Brooklyn apartment building blaze, officials announced Sunday.
On a fateful Saturday evening, 42-year-old Patrick Brady was engaged in firefighting efforts atop a flaming structure located on Kings Highway near East 94th Street in East Flatbush. During the operation, he tragically suffered a cardiac arrest, according to officials.
Despite the immediate intervention of fellow firefighters and FDNY medical personnel who performed emergency resuscitation efforts, Brady was transported to Brookdale University Hospital, where the 11-year FDNY veteran ultimately succumbed to his condition, as reported by authorities.

Mayor Adams reflected on the profound loss, stating early Sunday, “Firefighter Patrick Brady laid down his life in service to our cherished city; there is no greater act of selflessness than what he demonstrated tonight.” He further noted the legacy of courage within Brady’s family, who are all committed to safeguarding New Yorkers.
