A chilling video has emerged from a racing event in Argentina, capturing the moment a car flipped multiple times into a crowd of onlookers, tragically claiming the life of a 25-year-old spectator.
The incident occurred during Sunday’s competition in Mina Clavero when a Volkswagen Polo R5 vehicle, after striking a dirt mound, was sent airborne toward a group of spectators perched on rocks to watch the race unfold.
In a heart-stopping moment, a woman was seen urgently pulling a young girl in a blue shirt to safety as the car careened past, scattering debris in its wake.
The vehicle somersaulted six times before finally coming to a halt, as reported by Motorsport.
Brahian Zarate Gonzalez, a 25-year-old bystander, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. Additionally, a 40-year-old woman sustained a broken ankle, and a young girl was left with bruises. Photographs from the scene depict the woman in visible agony while receiving medical attention.
Fortunately, the driver, Didier Arias, and his co-driver, Hector Nunez, emerged from the crash without serious injuries during the second leg of the Rally Sudamericano Mina Clavero event.
International Automobile Federation bosses expressed their “deepest sympathies and sincere condolences” to the victims.
