According to police reports, officers were dispatched to the scene around 2:35 a.m. The incident occurred in the 400 block of North LaSalle Drive.

Chicago Police Department stated that four individuals were preparing to enter a car when they were suddenly confronted by four male suspects on foot, who then opened fire.

Footage from the scene showed police cordoning off a green SUV with crime scene tape early on Sunday.

Tragically, a 34-year-old man sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead after being transported to Northwestern Hospital, officials confirmed.

A man, 36, was shot in the chest, a man, 43, was shot in the back, and a 35-year-old man was shot multiple times to the body, according to police.

“A lot of people down here last night it’s just sad in the city of Chicago wherever you go you always have to keep your head on a swivel,” community activist Andrew Holmes said. “There’s been a bigger police presence here but you can have a large amount of police but this happened after the police just pulled off they said police was here for a while and they left.”

Chicago police said all the shooting victims were being treated at Northwestern Hospital.

“This was a brazen and violent act that took one life and left three others fighting for their lives… unfortunately incidents like this dampers the holiday” said Paul Rutherford, Executive Director of Cook County Crime Stoppers. “Someone knows who is responsible. Your information, no matter how small it may seem, could be the key to bringing justice to the victims and their families… I encourage anyone in the area or knows something about this incident we offer up to 10,000 cash reward for informational that leads to an arrest you don’t have to give your name it’s total anonymity.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-535-7867 or visit www.CPDTIP.com

The suspects got into a car and fled the scene. Nobody is in custody as Chicago police continue to investigate.
