In Jerusalem, Israeli President Isaac Herzog addressed the incident during a Sunday event celebrating the remarkable contributions of immigrants.
“At this very moment, our fellow Jews in Sydney, Australia, have suffered a brutal attack by despicable terrorists during their lighting of the first Chanukah candle at Bondi Beach,” Herzog stated. “Our hearts go out to them. The entire nation of Israel stands in solidarity, as we hope for the swift recovery of the injured and mourn those who perished.”
